We know that population of different countries in the world is always changing. For some countries like India and China, the population is increasing at a very fast rate, while for others e.g. U.S., it is increasing at a slower rate, in some countries it is even declining e.g. in Sweden and Hungary. All the countries of the world pass through different stages in population growth and accordingly exhibit changes in population growth. In this section, we will learn about the different stages of population growth and how they affect the changes in population scenario. We will familiarize you with certain concepts which are frequently used in the study of population. These concepts are - demography, demographic transition and demographic cycle.
