Explain Degree of Freedom - Jig and Fixture

  • The complete location of components inside a jig or fixtures can be understood with the help of figure.
  • The work piece is a cube having perfectly flat and true faces and is located in space to act as a free body.

  • The work piece is free to revolve around or move parallel to any axis in either direction.
  • The plane have been marked X-X" and Y-Y" in figure 10.1.s
  • The directions of movement are numbered from 1 to 12.
