Explain Commercial ADCs and DACs?

Analog interface chips (AICs), like those in the Texas Instruments TLC32040 series, consist of all type of the analog components that explained previously. They include the ADC and DAC, plus anti-aliasing and reconstruction filters. This type of combined ADC and DAC is on the DSK board, thus it has a direct significance for the demonstrations and common use of the DSK board.

The above diagram depicts a simplified functional block diagram of the device. The ADC (Analog to digital Conversion) path has an on-chip anti-alias filter. After that the output is supplied in serial form with common microprocessor control signals. Both of the ADC and DAC comprise 14-bit resolution.

The DAC path needs a serialized digital input. The output of the Digital to Analog Conversion is smoothed by using an on-chip filter with programmable filter cut-off frequencies.  The device is just very simply interfaced to the serial port of a DSP device.
