Explain about the piezoelectric effect.

Piezoelectric effect:

While crystals as quartz or tourmaline are stressed beside any pair of opposite faces, electric charges of opposite polarity are induced within the opposite faces perpendicular to the stress. It is termed as piezoelectric effect.
