Laser cutting and Welding:
Laser cutting is a technology which uses a laser to cut materials, and is generally used for industrial manufacturing applications. This laser cutting works with directing the output of a high power laser, through computer, at the material to be cut. After that the material melts, burns, vaporizes away, or is blown away by a jet of gas, leaving an edge along with a high quality surface end. Industrial laser cutters are utilized to cut flat-sheet material and also structural and piping materials.
Both gaseous CO2 and solid-state Nd:YAG lasers are utilized for cutting, into addition to drilling, welding, marking and surface treatment applications.

Laser cutters generally work much like a milling machine would for working a sheet in which the laser (equivalent to the mill) enters by the side of the sheet and cuts this through the axis of the beam.
