The Coriolis effect is a deflection of moving objects when they are reflects in a rotating reference frame. In a reference frame with clockwise rotation, the deflection is to the left of the motion of the object; in one with counter-clockwise rotation, the deflection is to the right. Though recognized previously by others, the mathematical expression for the Coriolis force appeared in an 1835 paper by French scientist Gaspard-Gustave Coriolis, in connection with the theory of water wheels. In the 20th century, the term Coriolis force started to be used in connection with meteorology.
It determines the probability of an electron occupying a state at an energy level E. This takes into account that a collection of electron must obey the Pauli Exclusion Principle.
