Most early treadmill stress tests are performed either at discharge or within two weeks of an MI ard terminated with the attainment of a specific heart rate, usually 70 per cent of the maximum predicted heart rate for age (normal 120 to 130 bpm) or when a workload of 3 to 5 METS has been achieved.
