Question
While designing mini-piles, should strength of grout be disused during estimation of loading carrying capacity?
Answer While designing min-piles, there will two approaches existing-
(i) In first approach, an axial conflict provided by grout is mistreated and steel bars take up design loads only. This advance is a conservative one that leads to use of high strength bars such as Dywidag bar. One has to note that bending moment is not planned to be taken up by min-piles since of its slender geometry.
(ii) In second approach, it involves loads to be taken up by together grout and steel bars together. In this way, strain compatibility condition of grout and steel has to be pleased.
