Enumerate the important surgical anatomical structures in maxilla and the structures present in the posterior wall of the maxillary sinus.

The important surgical anatomic structures in maxilla are

 Maxillary sinus

 Posterior and anterior superior alveolar nerves and vessels

 Infraorbital nerve and vessels

 Palatine nerve and vessels

 Nasopalatine nerve and vessels

 Posterior part of maxilla with important vessels

 Floor of the nose

 Maxillary tuberosityAnatomy and Physiology as Applied to Implant

Dentistry

The structures present in the posterior wall of maxillary sinus are Posterior superior alveolar nerve and vessels and Internal maxillary artery with pterygoid plexus. This wall should not be perforated during surgery to limit bleeding complications from the pterygoid plexus or branches of maxillary artery.
