Drugs may be a single chemical atom or a combination of two or more dissimilar substances. An perfect drug should assure the following needs,

While administrated to the ailing individual or host, its action could be restricted to a small area at the site in which it is desired to react. In actual molecule, there is no drug that behaves in this way.

a. It must react on a system along with safety and efficiency.

b. It must have minimum side effects.

c. It could not damage physiological processes or host tissues.

d. The cell could not acquire resistance to the drug subsequent to sometime.
