Some comparisons between intranet and internet include:

-  INTERNET is INTERnational NETwork

-  An INTRANET is INTernal Restricted Access NETwork

-  Intranet only gives local information relevant to company/organisation

-  It's possible to block access to certain sites using intranet

-  It's not always essential to have external modems when using intranets

-  Information for use on intranets is stored on local servers

-  Internet can be accessed from anywhere

-  Internet is available to anyone but intranet requires password entry

-  Intranet is behind a firewall.
