For the project work points (x,y) shown in the figure the bearing of point R is due West. The coordinate for point R is most nearly:

Solution: Determine the length of the southern leg of the triangle:

6380.78 - 5400.55 = 980.23-ft

Since the bearing of the angular line is N 67? 45' 42" W, the southern angle of the triangle is 67.76º.

 Therefore, the dimension form point R to the North line is: 

 =   980.23 tan 67.76?  

 =   2,397.20-ft

Then, the x coordinate of R is:

8790.01 – 2397.20 = 6392.82

Coordinate for R in the format of (x, y)

(6392.82, 6380.78)
