It is one thing to understand the basic importance of being a media literate individual of knowing its basic elements and necessary skills. It is quite another to live a media literate life. But we will do more. We will live a media literate life and make media literacy a living enterprise. We will encourage and teach others its values

(a) Based on the above extract, describe the term ‘media literacy'. Support your answer with example.

(b) According to Baran (2005), we can live a media literate life and teach others its values. Thus, to be successful at it, one should first prepare an understanding of the fundamental elements of media literacy. Describe any five elements of media literacy.

(c) Teaching the values of media literacy needs a number of specific skills. Outline and describe any three skills that you consider important for media literate consumption.
