Assignment Help:

Describe the physical properties and uses of the Brasses.

Brass- It is an alloy of copper and zinc along with 60 percent copper and 40 percent zinc. Its properties are-

1. Electrical resistivity is 7.0X 10-8 ohm-m of Brass that is higher than the copper resistivity.

2. This is ductile and can be drawn in various shapes.

3. This melts at 8900C.

4. Specific gravity is 3.3 of Brass

5. This has got a vary corrosion resistance.

6. This has got good mechanical properties.

Uses: Brass is utilized as a structural and current carrying material into power switches, sockets, plugs, lamp holders, knife switches, fuse holders, sliding contacts for starters and wave guide and rheostats components.
