As a graduate historian, I focused my learning on U.S. relations with our sister republics in the Western Hemisphere. Our role in the Americas has been woeful and disingenuous, IF we believe that we our nation's role in this hemisphere in the world is to help promote democracy. We have not. It is a plain historical fact. The disaster in Haiti is a great human tragedy. Randall Robinson is an acknowledged expert on Haiti. How much responsibility do we as a nation bear for creating and building a failed state?
