It is significant to be able to obtain useful information from the periodic table. Beginning with the simplest element hydrogen the periodic table represents each element in a box.
Information regarding an element the name of the element and its chemical symbol are given in each box. The integer in the box symbolizes the element's atomic number the number of protons in a nucleus of an atom of that element. As you scan the table you are able to see that the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number and that the sequence of atomic numbers has no missing values.
