Define the Abrasion - underwater inspection of bridge?

Abrasion damage is caused by continuous action of external forces on the surface of the concrete element. Erosive action of silt-laden water running over a concrete surface can cause considerable abrasion damage to concrete piers and piling. In addition, concrete surfaces in surf zones may be damaged by abrasive action of sand and silt in water.
