1. Asphalt surface

a. Estimate Design Traffic

b. Determine the Structural Number (SN) for the given traffic, roadway, and soil characteristics

c. Compute layer-thickness using the following equation  

SN = a1D1 + a2D2 + ...+anDn  

Where   SN = structural number of the pavement

    ai = strength coefficient of the ith layer

    Di = thickness of the ith layer in inches
