Define Nutritional Needs of the Elderly?
In this, we learnt about the nutritional needs of the elderly, and in doing so we have also focused on many other aspects such as who do we define as elderly, what is an ageing process and the impact of nutritional status on the health of older adults. We studied about physiological changes in the body systems and based on these nutritional requirements of the older adults. The guidelines for planning balanced nutrient dense diets for then were also outlined. There are special considerations to be kept in mind while planning menus for them and these have been pointed out.
