Define Most Probable Number Test (Multiple Tube Fermentation Test)?

Presence of coliforms in the water sample can be detected by performing multiple tube fermentation test which include 3 basic tests - Presumptive, Confirmed and Completed tests - to be carried out sequentially on each sample under analysis. The complete process requires at least 4 days of incubation and transfers.
