Define Middleware to Ease the Low-Level Protocol Burden

Fortunately, many products are available today to ease the low-level protocol burden on the application programmer. Middleware is a term used to denote these products that provide soft ware layers to shield the complexity of application development from core underlying protocols or services. Sample middle ware includes session - oriented, RPC - based, message- oriented, database interface systems and file- transfer products from a variety of vendors.
