Define Clinical progress for treatment for pem?

Normally, clinical improvement is evident within a week with the disappearance of oedema, The appetite improves almost dramatically and the child starts gaining weight, after initial loss of body weight. The mother should be advised about the diet precisely. It would be better to involve her in the preparation of suitable recipes during the child's stay at the hospital. We have learnt so far about the treatment of a child suffering from PEM. Have you heard the old proverb - "prevention is better than cure". So it becomes extremely important that we make sincere efforts to prevent and control PEM. Let us now see how this could be done.
