Define Carbohydrate metabolism - Ageing?

Glucose tolerance may be impaired to some extent. Usually, the fasting blood sugar is normal. The absorption of carbohydrate is not impaired, however, when a carbohydrate load is presented, as in the glucose tolerance test, the blood sugar remains elevated for a longer period of time as compared to the younger persons. Following exercise, the levels of blood lactic acid and pyruvic acid are often above normal limits.
