Constructional Details of Two Stroke Engine:

The basic components are cylinder, piston, piston liners, connecting rod, piston rings, crank pin, crank shaft, counter weight etc.

Spark Plug: They are mounted on cylinder head for the ignition of charge. The electrode gap in spark plug is maintained between 0.5 -- 0.8 mm. A voltage of 15000 -- 24000 volts is needed for creation of spark for ignition.

Ports: They are openings in cylinder block for ensuring of flow of charge to and from cylinder. There are 3 such ports in a 2 stroke engine which is inlet port, exhaust port and transfer port.

Deflector Type Piston: In the 2 stroke engines the piston used is of deflector type. Deflector ensures fresh incoming charge is not exhausted from exhaust port without combustion.   The piston is given with 2 types of rings also: Compression ring and oil scrapper rings. In 2 stroke engines opening and closing of ports   is carried out by pistons and there are no valve operating mechanisms.
