Even though male slave were treated just as severely as the female slaves were, female slaves' struggled more than male slaves due to added burdens and expectations placed upon them. Despite being brutalized throughout their enslavement some women surpassed their calamitous circumstances and went to dire lengths in their attempt to prevent their children from suffering the same fate.
