Classification of polymers - Fibres

These are the polymers that comprise strong intermolecular forces among the chain. These forces are either hydrogen bonds or dipole-dipole interaction. Because of the strong forces, the chains are packed closely giving them high tensil strength and less elasticity. Hence, these polymers have spiky melting points. These polymers are thin, thread such as, long and may be woven in fabric. Hence, these are employed for building fibres.
