Carry-over behaviour from past situations. Expectations about appropriate behaviour are carried into the new situation. People meeting for the first time as a group will draw on previous experiences of conducting meetings to guide their behaviour. The more unusual a situation, the less we can predict the behaviour expected of us, leading to some level of anxiety
