Capacitor discharge welding, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

Capacitor Discharge Welding

This is used for welding of studs, welding of thermocouples, etc. on the base metal. A low voltage, high amperage electrical discharge from a capacitor, supplies the arc energy. The current creates an arc, which melts the entire face of the studs & thermocouples and the same area of the work. The stud is then driven at a veryhigh velocity into the molten pool.
