Calculate value of force:

A 100N force that makes an angle of 45º with the horizontal x axis is to be replaced by the two forces, a horizontal force F and a second force of 75N magnitude. Find out the value of force F.

Sol.: Given 100N force is resultant of 75N and F Newton forces, Draw Parallelogram with Q = 75N and

P = F Newton  θ= 45° and α is not given.

Value of 'F' from equation(i) put in equation(ii), we get

Putting the value of a in equation (i), we get

F = 45.71N
