A shaft is hinghed by two bearings placed 1.0 m apart. A 600mm diameter pulley is mounted at a distance of 300 mm to the right of left hand bearing and this operates a pulley directly below it with the help of belt having maximum tension of 2.25kN. Another pulley 400mm diameter is placed 200mm to the left of right hand bearing and is driven with the assistance of electric motor and belt, which is placed horizontally to the right.
The angle of contact for both the pulley is 180o and μ =0.24. Calculate the suitable diameter for a solid shaft allowing working stress of 63 MPa in tension and 42 MPa in shear for the material of the shaft. Consider that torque on one pulley is same to that on the other pulley.
Explain concept of Counter Bore and countersink in radial drilling machine Counter Bore :- This operation uses a pilot to guide the cutting action to accommodate the heads
Backup Purge Backup purge gas can also be used to protect the under side of the weld and its adjacent base metal surfaces from oxidation on the time of welding . Uniformity
In an orthogonal cutting process, following data were taken. Chip length of 80mm was obtained with an uncut chip length of 200mm and the rake angle used was20 degrees and depth of
