Calculate the outer diameter of hollow shaft, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

A solid shaft of diameter d is taken in power transmission. Because of modification of existing transmission system, it is needed to replace the solid shaft by a hollow shaft of the similar material and equally strong in torsion. Further, the weight of hollow shaft per meter length could be half of the solid shaft. Calculate the outer diameter of hollow shaft in terms of d.
