My response to both questions was yes. I an of the view that if the purchase of a cell phone is required to ensure business continuity, every one should key into the decision. Most respondents answered No. I think that their responses may have been driven by the role they play as employee advocates. Based on the poll and what you have read in this discussion, would your response to the poll change? I responded yes to both questions and would not change my responses. In fact, using the layers framework, it is clear that employers are allowed to establish policies that will further their interests. However, as HR professionals, we need to ensure that in doing so, employers do not take actions that will reduce employee productivity and that practices are fair, equitable and consistent.
