Pleural, Pericardial, and Ascitic fluid Collection:    

The procedure is called paracentesis. If for pleural cavity is called thoracocentesis, and for pericardial cavity called pericardiocentesis.

Measurement of protein or enzymes is done on these specimens to differentiate between exudates and transudate effusion.

Saliva Collection:

Saliva may be used to determine the blood group substances or drug concentration. saliva is collected after washing mouth with water and chewing a paraffin wax for 1-3 minutes then collect saliva for analysis
