What are major advantages of using top-down approach in basement construction?


Answer

The main advantages of top-down approach are listed below-

(i) Structures above ground are able to be carried out simultaneously with structures below ground. This really reduces time for construction.

(ii) By using this approach, settlement can be summarized.
While permanent columns and slabs are able to be utilized to hold up loadings during construction, it saves price of formwork.
