Each student will develop a final paper that explores in more depth some issue or aspect of the period in East Asian history that we cover in this course. Although the particular topic is open, students will need to base their research on recent academic scholarship.
Step 1: Use the online resources of the Roesch library to browse for recent articles on topics that might interest you. You can do this in a couple of ways:1. Browse the recent issues (past 5-10 years) of one of the following journals. All can be accessed through the Roesch Library website. Talk to the instructor if you need help.

2. If you are looking for something specific, look for the database on the Roesch website called "Bibliography of Asian Studies." Those articles that are accessible should have PDF links.
Step 2: Select an article from one of the above sources that deals with a topic that interests you. This topic will be the focus of your final paper.
Step 3: Write a 1-2-page summary of the article (make sure to provide a complete citation), and end with an explanation of what direction you might take your final paper.
