Signature Assignment Part 2

This week, you will hand in two assignments. The first is a feedback table similar to the one you completed in Week 9. You will complete another feedback table based on your instructor's feedback on your literature review draft in Week 11. However, you will only submit this feedback table and NOT a third draft of your literature review.

Second, write a short paper assessing your tentative dissertation topic after completing a draft literature review in this course. Your paper should address the following topics:

1. Write a draft problem statement for your dissertation research.

2. Write a draft purpose statement for your dissertation.

3. Describe your preferred research method (quan/qual/mixed).

4. Describe potential study participants.

5. List 1-3 draft research questions.

6. Explain how your chosen theories support the above elements.

7. Assess the viability of such dissertation study and relate it to your degree (PhD or DBA) and specialization.

Length: 3-5 pages

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.

Signature Assignment Part Two

The overall goal of having you complete a comprehensive review of the literature is to help you understand the context of the research in your topic area. Another goal is to help you understand how problems relate to theories or conceptual frameworks.

Theories or conceptual frameworks help us unite the research findings in an area because research findings in isolation may not be as meaningful. A comprehensive literature review also helps you define potential problems that you may investigate for your dissertation.

One of the purposes of a research is to build upon the work of other scholars; completing a comprehensive literature review can help you identify potential areas of inquiry that other scholars may or may not have suggested for future research.

Finally, research worthiness is an important concept to consider.

Simply because there is a lack of literature on a topic area does not make it a suitable area of inquiry for research.
