The Fashion Industry-

From the point of view of utilitarian evaluation, what do you think are some of the morally best/ worst effects of the fashion industry upon society as a whole? What I am looking for here is some discussion of the effects of various practices of the industry upon society, not just the goods produced, but the manufacturing, retailing, advertising, branding, etc. Any kind of effect that you can think of that can be morally judged from a utilitarian perspective. Therefore make sure you are forming your judgments by considering consequences, real and/or possible, short and/or long-term. Remember, we're looking for the good as well as the bad. You don't have to aim exclusively at the best or the worst effects. You have a lot of room to play here..
