With the equipment provided in labs why do you observe only the Balmer series, but not the Lyman or Paschen series?
a) The equipment is limited and the intensity of the lines from the other series is too low for them to be observed.
b) There is no real difference between the Balmer, Lyman, and Paschen series. You have to have a specially manufactured tube to see each one.
c) Four orbital transitions in the Balmer series are in the visible range, none in the other series are.
d) An electron microscope is required to see the other series.
e) The Balmer series is the only one that gives off energy.
f) The Balmer series spectrum is in the visible range, the others are ultrasonic.
