Purpose
The NASW Code of Ethics is an important document for social workers. It is vital that social work majors understand the Code of Ethics in order to practice in an ethical manner. Social workers should understand the Code of Ethics as a relevant document to their own practice and be able to apply its guidance to their own lives.
Directions
Read the Preamble and the NASW Code of Ethics and answer the following questions. Provide the answers in your own words. Do not simply copy/paste the Code of Ethics into your assignment. Be sure to number each answer.
1) What is the primary mission of the social work profession? How would you explain this to someone who is not familiar with social work and asks you to explain what social workers actually do?
2) The Preamble to the Code identifies values of the social work profession. What are they?
