Assignment:

The Founders made it so difficult to alter the Constitution. On the one hand, they understood being able to make changes was important after they moved away from the Articles. On the other hand, they still required a significant amount of consensus among the several states, which were very different from one another.

Why is the Constitution so resistant to change, and is this a good or a bad thing? Is this good for long-term stability or is it detrimental to opening further gateways to democracy for certain individuals and groups?
