Diversity Management

In HRManagement, you have the ability to set hiring targets and add an affirmative action program in order to meet diversity goals in your firm. But diversity management is more than just picking targets and spending money. It requires that all employees be aware of their differences and learn to work together. In this exercise, explore some of the diversity issues you will deal with as an HR manager.

1. Why is diversity management important in a firm?

2. Identify three to five different kinds of employees at a typical mid-sized firm.

3. What incentives/benefits are important to each of the groups you identified?

4. Describe a scenario where employees from two different groups might have a problem communicating.

5. How might collaboration among the groups improve a service or product?

6. Come up with three ways to improve and manage diversity in the firm.
