It is the dream of every business to make profit and have a good location. A good location is very important for any business, it is part of a strategy. Location can affect access to a business. The key factors in deciding on a location include access for customers and suppliers. A good location is convenient and takes into consideration climate, geography, cost, demography, economic conditions and business incentives. Other elements of good location include government regulations, labor pool, proximity to competition and visibility. Different types of business have different location needs.
Facility design and layout can be very important in choosing a location, the physical requirement and size of facility depends on the type of business you are going to operate. When designing a facility and its layout, for manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution firm, it is very important to consider capacity for movement of goods, people, materials, equipment, floor space and ceiling height. Other factors include flexibility to adapt to changing business requirements, vehicle access, loading ducks etc. The needs of home base business and web-based business are very much different.
