Relativism and absolutism seem like polar opposites. One states there are many ways one can become good, and another states that there is really only one way to become good. However, both can adopt some form of egoism. Use the works of philosopher we have studied to explain how relativism and absolutism can both stake a claim to egoism.

2. The Problem of Undeserved Suffering

Plato's Gorgias stands out as one of the earliest attempts to explain the problem of undeserved suffering. Plato argued that it is better to suffer injustice than to commit injustice. Use a philosophical theory to justify or refute his answer.

3. Defining Human Rights

Political theorists have developed the idea that there is some number of inalienable human rights. However, defining who can take advantage of those rights has not been an easy question to answer. The case that is closer to the heart of philosophy takes the form of who Has moral agency? Who can treat others and be treated rightly or wrongly?
