Rewrite" The seminar by Ryan Scheidemantle and other contributors has significantly shifted how I plan to approach my remaining years at UC Davis. The emphasis on leveraging university resources like the UC Davis Career Center and platforms like Handshake has made me realize the importance of structured career exploration. I plan to schedule regular appointments with career advisors for detailed resume reviews, interview preparation, and networking strategies. Additionally, I'll actively participate in career fairs to explore potential internships and build connections.
The networking insights presented have underscored the value of cultivating relationships with professors, peers, and professionals. I aim to practice my introduction skills and participate in informational interviews to gain industry insights. Exploring LinkedIn as a networking tool and following companies in my field of interest will also be a priority.
Moreover, the diverse examples of career paths shared, such as consulting, government roles, and academia, have inspired me to broaden my course selection. I'm considering taking classes like ETX 135, which focuses on risk assessment of toxicants, to align my studies with potential interests in regulatory work.
Finally, this seminar has motivated me to pursue internships that will allow me to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems. Programs highlighted, such as state internships through CalCareers or UEI, are now on my radar. By combining academic excellence with practical experiences, I feel better prepared to navigate my career path and make the most of my time at UC Davis."
