Imagine that you were an American voter, living in the year 1980. There was a presidential election that year, with the two major candidates being:

Jimmy Carter of the Democratic Party, and Ronald Reagan, of the Republican party.

Answer this question: In that election, which candidate would you have voted for, and why?

In your answer, be certain and discuss, for the candidate for whom you choose to vote, the POLICY POSITIONS he held and explain why those positions lead you to vote for him. Remember--for Reagan, you CANNOT talk about what he did as president from 1981 to 1989.

As a 1980 voter, you don''t know yet what he''ll do then. You must use what Reagan campaigned on and said he stood for. Must use at least two quotes from attached pages.

The candidates for the American presidential elections were the Democratic Party’s Jimmy Carter and the Republican Party’s Ronald Reagan. There was an intense competition between the two and both the candidates received immense support. Jimmy Carter's policies positions did not cater solutions to the present issues that the American citizens were facing and were criticised. I would have cast my vote for Ronald Reagan in the election of 1980 as he gained immense popularity due to his great communication skills and the ability to address the issues that arose during the time such as the religious Right in 1979 and providing support for Proposition 13 to reduce taxes. His policies positions earned him credibility.
