Takaki's book, first written at the height of what I would characterize as widespread multiculturalism, gives us a wonderful overview. Would you characterize his approach as comparative or relational? Your answer should reflect your interpretation and understanding of Molina's text, as we build upon our readings. The Estes and Dunbar-Ortiz essay build upon a critique of settler-colonialism. We will return to this in subsequent weeks, in greater depth. While both essays are sharply critical and, especially in the case of Estes and Dunbar-Ortiz, unflinchingly so, they also offer up moments of hope, crouched in sustained and everyday acts of resistance.
