"DYO Final" is for a class I took called Literature for Children. It was a Design-Your-Own (DYO) paper on any topic you wanted pertaining to children's literature. In my paper, I explored the effect of sad literature on children.

What’s wrong with cellphones? (Based on Louis C.K.’s interview on Conan) – ¾ page minimum

Louis C.K., as usual, had something about modern society to publicly condemn. Most of the time, I laugh and agree with him. I love his stand-up and have enjoyed all of Louie. But this time, I have to shake my head at his rant on cellphones.

I understand that he’s more disgusted with kids’ excessive use of cellphones and how it’s “toxic” to our society, rather than the cellphones themselves, but I don’t think that refraining from giving your kids cellphones is the answer to this toxic problem. He claims he doesn’t let his children own cellphones because he wants them to know how to be people…not people who constantly have their noses in their phones. I get that. Texting has definitely caused some of our youth to lose their empathy skills, has made bullying a lot easier, and has led to increased trafficrelated deaths.
