After reviewing the timeline it shows that over the decades the main programs and policies have been to assist individuals financially, socially, and medically. This shows a trend of what is most important when making policies in the modern era. Based on these trends we can anticipate that similar trends will continue in the future. Continued programs that improve accessibility to health care, social policies that support vulnerable populations, and financial support for those struggling. Another trend that we see within this timeline is the constant change and revision of existing policies and programs. One group that could benefit from more or revised programs would be our veterans. Too often are our veteran population neglected due to gaps in current programs or recourses. The least that we can do for the individuals who guard our freedoms is to support and assist them. "In 2023, 35,574 veterans were experiencing homelessness - 22 of every 10,000 veterans in the United States - compared to 20 out of every 10,000 nonveterans experiencing homelessness in 2023" (Pinkston, 2024). This shows how hardships affect our veterans even more than the general population.

1. Based on the timeline, describe what you see currently in terms of social welfare programs and societal perspectives.
I saw there has been so many changes on policies and laws. They have been added, edited, removed, and reauthorized. Times are different from when some policies and laws were put in place, so it is understanding as to why so many changes.
2. Based on the timeline, anticipate where the future might lead social welfare.
I believe there is a lot more work for social workers to do, and they will be needed to better meet the complex needs of individuals and communities.
3. Identify a group that you think is not currently benefiting-or not benefiting enough-from welfare programs.
A group that is currently not benefiting enough would be people with disabilities. I believe there can be so much more resources for them. Application processes for them can be complicated, making it hard for them to get the help they need. There is still a lot of stigmas they encounter which affects the ability to seek help or be aware of benefits there is out there. The have limited support out there in workforce. Insufficient financial support, costs associated with living with a disability, including medical expenses and specialized care are not enough.
