The Young Trainee Jose Corpuz is an old timer in the Manila Engineering and Equipment Corporation. The company produces various machine parts of high quality and is recognized as leader in product development and research. Jose Corpuz is a product of the old trade school has been able to continue his education by himself. He did this by reading avidly technical magazines. He is considered one of the top supervisors of the company, very skilled and nice to be with. His contemporaries respect him for his skill as well as his relations with his subordinates. He has provided sufficient opportunity for advancement for many young recruits through training. He has never hidden anything from his subordinates and was always quite willing to learn from them. Lately, a young engineering graduate of high scholastic ability Charlie Dingo, was assigned as a cadet engineer in Joe's department. A cadet engineer is detailed on a temporary basis fora period of six months in the different departments in to order to give him a broad knowledge of company operations. Later he is assigned to a supervisory position after one year probation. Three days after Dingo was assigned to Joe's department, Dingo started pointing out every thing that was wrong with the department. He often discussed these things with the young ones in the department. He had some good points, but on the whole the effect was undermining the leadership of Corpuz. While the majority did not like the behavior of Dingo, a minority saw Joe as idol with a feet of clay.
