In space, an asteroid of mass 5,000 kg is hit by an object of mass 1000 kg and travelling at 1,000 m/s with respect to the asteroid. A ssuming that the object "sticks," so taht the asteroid's mass increases to 6,000 kg, what will be the new speed of the asteroid? Assume a reference frame where the asteroid is initially at rest.
